Craig Chike Akoh MD is a dual fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in both sports medicine and foot & ankle. His orthopaedic training has provided him a unique ability to perform a multitude of procedures in the hip, knee, ankle, and foot. He provides state-of-the-art ankle replacement, bunion surgery, Achilles tendon repair, ankle arthroscopy, knee cartilage restoration/ ligament reconstruction, and postless hip arthroscopy/ hip preservation procedures. He has a strong research background in the latest sports medicine and foot & ankle treatment techniques. He also has a strong background in the management of non-elite and elite athletes in the collegiate and high school level.

Dr. Akoh grew up in Athens, Georgia and was competitive in basketball as well as track and field in his formable years. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Cellular Biology and Psychology at the University of Georgia. At the University of Georgia, he was also awarded the prestigious Foundation Fellowship Academic Scholarship, affording him the unique opportunity to travel abroad throughout his undergraduate education. He subsequently completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa.Dr. Akoh completed his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, where he served as a team physician for the Wisconsin Badger football and basketball teams. Dr. Akoh completed his foot & ankle fellowship at Duke University, where he learned state of the art minimally invasive bunion correction techniques and total ankle replacement.

Currently, Dr. Akoh serves as the Sports Medicine and Foot & Ankle surgeon at Regenerative Orthopaedics and Spine Institute in Stockbridge, GA. Dr. Akoh has published over 40 peer reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts. He has presented over 30 academic papers at national conferences. Dr. Akoh currently serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and Journal of Arthroscopy. He is passionate about advocating for his patients, striving to align the correct treatment option with the patient’s personal goals of care. He aims to educate his patients so that they can make informed decisions about their own care in order to return to their previous activity level, lifestyle, or sport.
